RCA 1946 Radio Red Marble Catalin Model 66x-8 - - - - - - - - - Completely Restored Quality Guaranteed with a 7 Day Return Policy and a One Year Warranty This RCA Model 66x-8 is most likely the largest Catalin radio ever made. It is 15.25”w x 8.35”h x 6.625”d. It is all original including the back. Flaws are very difficult to find. There are only a few very minor scratches on the 65 year old radio. This example is marbleized cherry red cabinet with original brown Bakelite knobs. This is a truly remarkable radio in fabulous original exterior condition. Internally t he Electronics have been completely restored and the radio works perfectly. All of the paper and electrolytic vintage capacitors were carefully replaced with their modern equivalents. All other components were checked and replaced if out of tolerance. All 6 tubes were replaced with NOS (new old stock) tubes. Each tube was individually tested for quality and long life. As an added feature , the RCA Model 66x8 comes with a PHONO jack in the bottom. If you look closely at the last picture you can see this phono jack. It was used to connect a phonograph to the audio output and power stages of the radio. There is a switch contained within the jack so that when you plug into the jack, the front end of the radio is “turned off” and the external device is connected into the 1 st audio frequency amplifier circuit. I will include with the radio a custom made connecting cable to use this phono input jack with any modern MP3 device. The cable will have passive components which combine the stereo headset output of these devices back to mono. And also, the components will protect the MP3 device from any DC output caused by an unlikely circuit failure. (It is safe anyway, this is just double protection against a shorted tube). The phono circuit itself is completly standard and no modifications whatsoever have been made to the radio anywhere. The design is just like it came from the factory 65 years ago. The cable and the phono jack work perfectly, I tested it with an iPhone, iPOD and a Shuffle. It works and sounds great with 1940's music I downloaded from iTunes. This connection will work equally well with a simple CD player or any device that has a standard plug "headphone" output. Quality Guarantee: - The radio may be returned within 7 days of receipt unconditionally. (buyer pays shipping) - If the radio fails to operate within a year after receipt, it may be returned for cost free repair. (buyer pays return shipping) Notes to buyers outside North America: · Buyer pays exact shipping which will be determined after purchase · Buyer assumes all risks after shipment leaves North America · No Customs charges are included or can be estimated · This radio cannot be directly converted to 240VAC Thank You Update: Please reference the last picture: A bidder asked me to post a picture of the iPhone plugged into the Radio. When doing this, I found the phono jack needed to be replaced so I used a high quality CUI switched stereo jack. I also tried it with a Fiio E3 earphone amplifier and the tone quality is better. So, I am including the amp and the cables with the purchase. The Andrews Sisters sound great!
