RCA model R-8 Superette radio - 1931 This is a radio that has been in my collection for many years. When Marty Bunis was photographing radios for his series of Antique Radio Collectors Guide books, he came to my house to photograph what was in my collection back then. This was one of those radios. The photo was eventually used is volumes 6 and 7 after John Slusser took over editing the books.This radio is in good shape with specks of rust and t on the chassis. I've never worked on it or tried to get it to play so you'll get the pleasure of being the first one inside. It will be like opening up King Tut's tomb !!This is from the era when RCA was selling some really classy looking radios. The cabinet designers were doing very nice work. T are 8 tubes and they are (3) 27, (2) 35, 24, 47, 80. Judging by the #35 tubes, this radio has automatic volume control so that will make for easier listening for the new owner. Some of the tubes in the radio are the older globe types.I bought and sold antique radios under the name of "Vintage Radio Services" from the 1980's to the early 90's. I sold over 1500 radios during that time. Almost all were mail-order. During that time, I kept the best stuff for the collection. This is one of those radios. It's time to pass it on to someone else. If you are the winner, please make contact within 3 days after the end of the auction. If payment is mailed, it must be received not later than 10 days after initial contact. PayPal payments need to be made within 4 days. PayPal is welcomed when shipped to verified addresses. Payments by money order or bank check will also be honored but the payment must clear before shipment. Those of you who use PayPal already know that you can pay through them by credit card. During the 80's and early 90's, I sold antique radios by mail and shipped thousands of them and they all made it safely. (This was before eBay).
