The Atlas Moth is the world's largest. These are HUGE. Wingspan is over 8 inches! These are very interesting and quite unusual. They have no mouth and never eat during their short lifespan. They actually survive on food stored in the body cavity from before they had wings. Their antenae are feathers leading the evolution believers to feel that Atlas just might be the link between insect and bird. For protection from predators these have the look of a serpent at the top of each wing. I made the close up photo for you to observe this. They are framed in black frames measuring 9 by 11 inches. They have hardware attached so now it is ready to hang on the wall. What a conversation piece! You can see the photo of a pair of these Atlas mating at my butterfly farm. Also you can see the photo of me and an Atlas that has just seconds before burst open its wings. They are only still like this for a short time. The other photos are just a few of the MANY other species I raise and SELL ( INQUIRIES ABOUT ALL MY OTHER SPECIES FRAMED OR UNFRAMED ARE VERY WELCOME) both as dried stock as well as framed. ALL butterflies and moths live out their complete life cycle and are only collected AFTER a natural death. I do no wild capturing because it is illegal and the catching process usually blemishes or damages the butterfly.
