When I was given this razor and the other ivory razor I have up this week, I was told they were rare, in that they were London made, rather than Sheffield. As I came to know more about razors, I realized that this razor may or may not have been London-made, but the New Bond Street address on the tang was almost certainly that of a razor seller rather than a maker. London's Bond Street, and particularly the part that became known as New Bond has been a street of shopkeepers of every ilk for a very long time. Certainly not what one would consider an industrial area by any means. I believe the other razor I have up is London made, but that's just a guess too. Please see it if you have time. Now to what I can tell you for sure...it's real ivory for sure with no cracks, breaks or even scratches that I can see. Gorgeous, creamy graining, pewter wedge. Blade is shiny with minimal pitting and a nice etching. Tang marked "Asprey, New Bond St. W", which I have never seen on another. It will come with a decent edge. A light honing and a strop will put it back to work. I shaved with it for awhile, but I dropped it one day, and when I saw that I had lucked out and not broken it, I was so relieved that I retired it. Pins look original and are reasonably tight.
