GREAT OLD REAL Pipe Tomahawk ORIGINAL! Circa mid to late 1800's. Has lead intake with natural oxidation from age and is slightly loose from the wood shrinkage over the years, typical on old pipe bowls of the same age. Cast Iron head is original to the haft and has been drilled for smoking. Photos clearly show patina is real and OLD! The wood is not an ash more of a lighter wood. The tacks are square shank brass cast tacks with great patina. The haft and head are loose which is another sign of the age and authenticity. Carved handle show whirling logs, diamonds, and a beautiful floral pattern. Seems to be either Northern Plains or Prairie/ Great Lakes. Guaranteed old and original!!! Close ups show Patina to the Iron Blade is original. The handle has some cracks and is dry from age but over all strong. Came from an old Estate auction and has never been on the market! Size is 16 inches long head is 8 inches wide. You see lots of fake ones on ebay and time after time they sell to collectors who just do not know how to tell. But rest easy, this one is a real one and has good honest old patina from years of wear and changing hands. Since the wood is more of a light wood, I would guess its more presentation or for ceremonial purposes, but its defiantly very old and honest.
