Four Vintage Real Photo Postcards of Butler, New Jersey Baseball Game Played on July 21, 1906 between teams from Butler, NJ and nearby town of Boonton, NJ Thisauction includes four (4) vintage Real Photo Postcards showing various scenes from a baseball game played in Butler, New Jersey, on July 21, 1906, between teams from Butler and the nearby town of Boonton, both part of Morris County in northeastern New Jersey. Each RPPC is unused and features a captioned photograph image. Together these four postcards capture remarkable details of the baseball game and its time and place, including the uniformed players; a large group of spectators--some taking shelter under awnings along the sidelines; a tall, covered section of bleacher seating; neighboring houses set in close by the field; and even the umpire's straw hat and bowtie! Two of the postcards offer different perspectives on the game in progress and share the caption: "Ball Game at BUTLER, N.J., July 21st, 1906. Score: Butler-1. Boonton-0." The other two captions read: "Ball Game at BUTLER, N.J., Game interrupted. Argumenting." and "Ball Game at BUTLER, N.J., Game over. Going home." The cards are 5 5/8ths inches long and 3 1/2 inches high, and each has a blank white area under the image itself, perhaps for commentary. The image resolution is relatively good for action shots. read more
