Welcome to The Old Above I sell restored vintage lighting. What I love is bringing fixtures back to their original appearance. I don’t alter them, add parts, change the colors, or anything. I’m very pleased to offer this striking pair of 1920s polychrome sconces! The sconces retain their original polychrome of deep burnished gold, and with accents of rich blue, green, and red. Just stunning. The fixtures are also impressively molded and with nice relief. Wholly restored and with new wiring, this set is ready to hang, and comes with all the mounting hardware needed! DETAILS : Sadly, the period-correct, hand-painted bulbs are not included. Happily, I will let you know where to get them. The fixtures accept standard base 60W bulbs. Each sconce has an on/off switch. As I don’t trust old switches I deactivated these. If this feature is important please contact me. The mounting buttons are replacements. COLOR : See above. SIZE : The fixtures are 12-inches high, 9-inches wide, and they project 3-1/2-inches. CONDITION : I love writing this: there’s no damage. The sockets are original (and in fine shape) with new wiring and paper insulators. The candle covers are new. The polychrome is original and only required minor touching up. In such an event, I will file a complaint with eBay. NOTE : After payment is received, I ship within 7 days. TIPS TO BUYING VINTAGE LIGHTS ON EBAY SCALE. I believe that scale is everything. If the vintage fixture you buy is too small (or large) for your room, it will not look right no matter how beautiful it is. A fixture that is, say, 12-inches wide was meant for a smaller bedroom or hall. A 16-inch wide fixture was meant for a normal size living/dining room. All this presupposes that you do not have a mansion! If so, you would need much larger fixtures. McMansions also have bigger rooms than most pre-WWII homes. INSURANCE. Beware of sellers who state: I am not responsible after shipping. Or: If you don’t take out insurance I am not responsible. Both these statements are contrary to new eBay policy. Every seller IS responsible for the safe delivery of anything they ship. If you receive an item that has been damaged during shipping, first contact the seller and request a 100% refund including shipping (it helps to send images of the damage). If the seller refuses, or only offers a partial refund, contact either eBay or Paypal and file a Not As Described claim. If this claim is granted, you will be fully refunded and the seller will be charged. Insurance ONLY helps the seller. If the item was indeed packed properly (in my experience 99% of damaged items are the fault of poor packing and not poor shipping) the seller can get reimbursed by filing an insurance claim. A buyer does NOT have to take out insurance to protect themselves. FRANKENLIGHTS. The overwhelming majority of “restored” vintage fixtures sold on eBay are not actually vintage. Scary, but true. Most such fixtures have been wildly altered and look nothing like they did originally.
