Up for auction today is a very rare 1/72 scale official US government recognition ID spotter model of a USN R4D-8 transport aircraft. This model is in mint condition. The material used to cast this model is believed to be resin but could be made of some other materiel; there is no sagging or warpage of the wings or tail section and there are no sinkholes. This aircraft was also known as the "Super DC-3" There were two prototypes built, 100 produced for the navy and three ordered and built for Capital Airlines. Many are still flying today. This is a solid resin model; propeller hubs are present but blades were not offered. The landing gear doors are closed as to show the aircraft in flight as most ID models were produced, this model comes without a stand. On the lower starboard wing is the raised lettering R4D-8 US TRANSPORT JAN 57. The lower port wing has raised lettering U.S. PROPERTY SCALE 1:72. I tried to show this in photos 5, 6 and 7 but glare obscures the lettering and is barely visible.. Shipping is $12.00. Bidders from Alaska, Hawaii and outside the lower 48 please request shipping costs. If you have any questions at all please ask. Thank you for looking and
