BRITISH OFFICES RED COAT to GOLD COAST CORPS, an active unit in GHANA, AFRICA. I would guess if the "boys" didn't have the money to get a royal commission in a line unit, or the "pull" to get in the Honorable East India Company, they then went to AFRICA, and fought to preserve the Empire t while fighting against human sacrifice, and the SLAVE TRADE....or so they said. This coat represents an important part of the British colonial period,the Ashanti war, and would be a great addition to any museum or collection of the slave trade,or the British Empire of the 19th Century.The red coat has 22 coat size buttons, and 12 cuff size...thirty-four Jennens & Co London buttons in all representing a "small fortune " to the button collector, being just about as rare as you can get, and they are gold guild and in very fine condition. The bullion work on the cuffs and the collar is magnificent.Coat has a padded interior , typical of military uniforms of the period, and over all is in excellent condition. The keys for the epalauts are present, just waiting for the right ones to be affixed, and I would imagine one would use typical British military gold bullion shoulder epalauts of the period, which should not be that difficult to find.
