This flawless, exquisite Red Poppies vase was created by Richard Satava in his California , USA , art glass studio as part of his "Flowers" series. Dimensions are 10 3/4"H x 5 ½"D. "Satava 1253-96" signature and registration number etched onto outside foot. Comes with Satava Art Glass Studio registration card. Smoke-free and pet-free home. Many layers of variegated swirls, spots and colors together give the illusion of actual real poppy flowers encapsulated in the glass. Light passes through the outer layers to the petals and stems which cast shadows onto inner layers, resulting in a 3-dimensional effect. What depth and beauty! Photos show how the vase colors appear in varied lights: Natural sunlight, Flash from camera, Overhead electric light. Glass colors are as follow: Raspberry outer edge of lip. Golden aurora borealis (iridescent) inner lip. Vanilla cream interior. Exterior begins as vanilla cream color at top. Moving down, the cream becomes sprinkled with sand color droplets behind the poppies. At foot, deepens to maple sugar and cream crackle. Four poppy flowers wrap around the vase. Sensuous, velvety petals of variegated warm reds and oranges, with creamy yellow highlights. Stamens and pistils are swirls of sky blue and sienna brown. Opalescent sky blue and sand color stems undulate above and below the poppies. Caramel ribbons edged in sienna brown wrap around vase above flowers and stems. This lovely Satava vase is breathtaking to view, thrilling to hold and to study. A joy to own! See something new every time gazing into this fabulous piece of art glass.
