After years of buying pens left and right, it's time to sell my duplicates and those that I don't use. Please come back and see us as we'll be selling 300+ pens in the next few months. Included is a writing collection OF HIGHLY COLLECTABLE for the Esterbrook MATERIALS: ’s the short story( In order to help you fall sleep better at night if you’re an insomniac, the longer story follows!) 1. A FULLY RECONDITIONED AND OPERATING Tempo Red purse pen from 1957 in Excellent condition. It’s one of the bold colors that came out the year after the original pastel colors. These are hard as the dickens to find. This model is slightly over 4.25 inches long and is trimmed in chrome. The end jewels are pretty matching bright red and look MUCH better than my sucky picture. 2. And a nice array of assorted MINT nibs (nibs are always mint and often come in the tiny original boxes, depending on our inventory) as follows: 1555- very rare British pen counter boxing-box serves as display case too-clear base is also unusual-please see pics 2550 - Firm, extra fine 2556- Firm, fine 2668-Firm, medium 3. a good copy of the Esterbrook Selection Point Chart showing and telling about 33 nibs, all of which can be bought on ebay at one time or another. We have many of them in our store. 4. Copies of 2 Esterbrook ads. 5. Filling instructions and care suggestions for MOST types of fountain pens. 6. AN ORIGINAL ,INFORMATIVE,AND CLOSE TO IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND BROCHURE FROM A LONG DEFUNCT PEN SHOP.SEE PICS The pen is in great working condition , having been cleaned, polished, re-saced and tested by us. As always, we guarantee the working order of the pen and give you a 7 day unconditional chance to view the package (see returns below in the fine print). The pen fills with bottled ink from a small lever on the side (instructions enclosed).Ink can be found at our store, office supply stores and online. The 2 end jewels are perfect, the imprints are readable and the pocket clip is good and snug. Tiny surface scratches from use in an older day are barely noticable as are tiny mars around the area of the cap band. You can't call the pen mint becasuse it has had some, sparce use but it's a great speciman of the unusual Tempo RED PURSE PEN. T’s a soft, pliable ink bladder and the pen is ready to write and we guarantee it. This is truly a grand example of the bold purse pens. THE LONGER STORY: In the mid 1950’s Esterbrook introduced these neat little pens. They were positioned as Purse Pens and apparently marketed towards ladies. Although the nibs all fit the earlier J model pens, these little guys were quite a different look and personality. The pen fills with bottled ink from a small lever on the side (instructions These little pens have really become the popular collectible and they either didn't make very many of them or they simply don't come up all that often. This little guy is in really good condition. This line of pens emerged in 1956 +- and included six pastel colors , all with black end jewels. T were pink, aqua, blue, yellow, peach and orchid (very light purple). The model number was “CH”, which indicated it had a pocket clip. The “H”’s, which I rarely see, had no clip. Each had matching pencils which are harder to find today. The sets came with a small plastic pouch with different colors. According to Paul Hoban’s book in 1992, a second set of purse pens was introduced around 1957. 6 new bold, rich colors hit the market and the new colors were called Polar White, Tempo Red, Country green, Peacock blue, Trianon Rose, Aloha Gold..This group had colored jewels to accent the body of the pen. Nurses pens from this group are actually a 7 th model and have red jewels w the Polar White had white jewels Pens from the latter group are probably 20 times harder to find these days and I have no idea why.
