Staffordshire red transfer 9" plate with beaded and scalloped white edge in "Monastery" pattern, maker unknown. C.1830-35. The pretty border features swags of lace. The central scene shows the ruins of Gothic buildings and is framed by tall trees. A man on horseback is passing in front of the largest building and two cows drink from a lake nearby. Excellent condition, no chips, cracks, hairlines, repairs or crazing. Very minimal surface wear. A hard to find pattern.
