RED WING LUTE SONG SERVING SALAD BOWL Eames Era Large Speckled Hand Painted 11" Vintage Red Wing Pottery large serving bowl, "Lute Song" pattern, hand-painted image on speckled tan background, just over 11 in. diameter and 5 in. high. Lutes are depicted in brown and blue, high gloss finish, the style very indicative of the period, late 1950s (pattern was produced 1958 to 1959). This bowl is rare and in excellent condition, with no scratches, chips, or crazing. There is a small manufacture flaw near rim (see pic) but it is unnoticeable (under glaze). Very attractive, sharply sloping shape to raised rim foot. RED WING POTTERY Red Wing Pottery of Red Wing, Minnesota, was a firm started in 1878. The company first made utilitarian pottery, including stoneware jugs and canning jars. In the 1920s art pottery was introduced. Many dinner sets and vases were made before the company closed in 1967.
