Redstone Clovis point from the Paleoindian period of the Carolina Piedmont. Classic example is triangular with straight sides and well made with nice long flutes on both sides. Lenticular cross section is even and straight, no bends, curves or stacks. Just a hair over 2" long. Base is ground. Made of a high grade dark grey/black rhyolite that has patinated brown after 12,000 years. A couple of small nicks that just sort of scar the patina show the original color underneath. The very tip of one ear has a tiny nick but it's old and patinated over.
Dates to the earliest cultural period of the Carolina Piedmont, the Paleoindian. Age is around 11,500 - 12,000 years old. Guaranteed authentic with 14 days return for any reason. Thanks for looking! The surface on this point has not been 'enhanced' in any way. The point is all original. The surface has patinated to a nice smooth, almost slick feel with a little bit of sheen to it. This is typical of a lot of the really old points made from this material such as Clovis and Hardaway.
