ESTATE - BEAUTIFUL - VINTAGE 143 pieces of Reed & Barton Francis I Sterling Silver Flatware Most pieces are in like-new condition or close. Six steak knives are still in plastic and have not been removed. is a list of the set: T are 12 iced beverage spoons, 12 soup spoons, 14 dessert or cereal spoons, 12 large place knives, 12 large place forks, 12 salad or pastry forks, 12 cocktail or oyster forks, 17 coffee or cocktail spoons, 12 flat handle spreaders, 6 steak knives (as already stated above), 1 punch ladle, 1 sugar tong, 1 flat handle butter serving knife, 1 jelly server, 1 pierced table spoon, 2 bon bon or nut spoons, 1 pastry server, 1 candle snuffer, 1 large salad or serving fork, 1 tomato or flat server, 1 lemon plate, 1 gravy ladle, 1 olive or pickle fork, 1 large salad or serving spoon, 1 smaller table or serving spoon, 3 larger table or serving spoons, 1 lemon fork, 1 sugar spoon and 1 large cold meat fork. Friday, June 27, 2008: An ebayer sent me a question this morning and asked about the inscription mark on the back of each piece. Well, I had no idea they could be different! So, I went to the warehouse w this estate stuff is kept and looked at each piece and this is what I found: All pieces have the "Bird-R-Lion Sterling" engraving on them with the exception of the following: The lemon plate reads, "Reed & Barton Sterling X567 Francis I", the punch ladel reads "Reed & Barton Sterling", the pastry server reads, "Reed & Barton Mirrorstele Sterling Handle", the candle stick snuffer reads, "Reed & Barton Sterling", 4 of the 17 coffee or cocktail spoons read "Sterling Reed & Barton". I thought it was strange that 13 not 12 of them had the "Bird-R-Lion Sterling" engraving on them. Anyhow, the 6 steak knives were purchased from Sweeney & Company Jewelers out of Texas and they read "Reed & Barton Mirrorstele Sterling Handle" on them. The lemon fork reads "Sterling Reed & Barton", the 2 bon bon spoons read "Sterling Reed & Barton" and the last thing I looked at was the large place knives which I believe to be very old. They still look beautiful and in good condition, but this is how they read, "Reed & Barton Mirrorstele" and on the handle of 6 of them, I could barely make out the words "Sterling Handle" even with a magnifying glass and I have 20/20 vision! The other 6 knives I could not read as the "Sterling Handle" inscription has worn off over the years. T is no doubt though, that they are Reed and Barton Sterling. Also, some of this set can be seen in a wedding photo from 1947 of the couple that left the estate to my Dad. They obviously added to it over the years. So, 114 of the pieces have the "Bird-R-Lion Sterling" mark on them, and 29 do not as stated above. Saturday, June 28, 2008: Some of my ebay friends have requested the size of the large forks and knives: Forks measure 7 3/4" and knives are 9 3/4" long. Tuesday, July 1, 2008: I got called to work, possibly until Saturday afternoon/evening. Will be out of town and away from computer. Any questions? I'll answer them when I return. Also, t are no monograms on any of the pieces. Thanks. This set will be shipped UPS ground in the United States only. It will be shipped to a confirmed address only, insured and a signature requirement. Sales only to ebayers with a feedback score above 95%. At this time, I only accept paypal. Sale is final.
