See the scans. This is an original 1st edition of the "History of the 27th Regiment N.Y. Vols." It was published in Binghamton, New York in 1888. The book is about 6 x 8 1/2" size and has 304 pages including a Table of Contents, Erreta, folding maps, many illustrations, a complete and detailed roster including casualties, a good narrative history of the unit's two years service and combat, etc. It has an inked inscription to one of the soldiers from a comrade.
The 27th New York "Union Regiment" was recruited in central New York, with three companies coming from Broome County and others from Livingston, Allegany, Monroe, Ontario, Wayne and Orleans Counties. The 27th lost 130 men at 1st Bull Run and 162 at the Seven Days Battles and also was present at Antietam and Fredericksburg. A two year regiment, the 27th returned ot Elmira and was discharged in May of 1863. Generally VF condition with the usual minor wear, clean with no odor. Rear cover had been loose (not detached), but was professionally repaired. A sound example of a useful, scarce title. I will be listing about forty other New York State Civil War regimentals in the next month. NOTE: I am very good about getting my orders out promptly, sometimes same day and almost always within 24 hours. However, lately the U.S. postal "service" has been very spotty. In the last several months, I have had first class insured items take over a month to California and two weeks in New York State. Most are delivered in a timely fashion, but a few are not. NEW RULES FOR 2007 - NO OVERSEAS SALES, CANADA AND U.S. ONLY. Sorry about that, but my airmail small packets are being stolen enroute to England and Belgium. ALSO: ALL ITEMS MUST HAVE AT LEAST MINIMUM ($50) INSURANCE. NO EXCEPTIONS UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES! Buyer pays $8.00 for insured priority postage. I will combine postage on multiple orders. PAY PAL, check or money order, please. Thanks. George B. Harris, P.O. Box 1136, Alfred, NY 14802.
