This music box has been in my house for many years. I purchased the machine about 20 years ago at an antique show and have enjoyed playing it for all these years. Unfortunately, as with all our prized antiques, t is a time for this machine to find a new home.
Let me tell you everything I know about the machine. First, it is a double comb, 20 3/4" disc player. It is serial number 29083. Mechanically, it works perfectly. Has great sound. No broken teeth on combs. Runs, winds, plays as it should. I don't doubt that it could use a good cleaning and tuning, but as is it sounds and appears great. I am assuming that this is a Model 25 (coin operated) due to a knockout under the crank on the right side w it appears that a coin mechanism may have been. It also could be a model 24 (parlor use)and never had a coin mechanism. I don't know how to tell for sure. The cabinet is oak and in good condition for it's over 100 years of age. Sometime ago the cabinet was stripped and refinished (prior to my getting the machine)and could use a good cleaning again. Some of the glue joints are becoming loose, all minor fixes. Measures 69"h x 33"w x 16"d. Guesstimate on weight is around 150#. The most major thing I can see on the machine is it appears to be missing the top fence. Although the original finials are t, the top fence is missing. Comparing the machine to pictures on page 199 of Bauers Enclopedia of Music Boxes I could see nothing else out of place. The interior record holders are in good shape, comes with 24 records in a variety of conditions. I have seen these machines sell for $15000 plus, but realizing that it is not perfect I am starting the price low with NO RESERVE. Buyer is responsible for all shipping and handling costs, I will assist as needed. I can arrange reasonable private shipping within 500 miles of Duluth, MN.55811. Best shipped by a furniture or moving company (North American Van Lines, Allied Van Lines)as the value and replacement of this machine would be difficult. I will accept Cashiers check or money order preferred, business check or personal check will delay shipping for 10 business days for check to clear. I do not accept bids from bidders with less than 5 positive feedbacks, or with any negative feedback without prior authorization via email. Please contact me. (Too many bogus bidders on these kinds of items.)
