Great impressionist beach scene circa 1950s by artist John Lazarski, a student of Reginald Marsh. Painting is oil on masonite and measures 18" by 24". Painting is unsigned but was purchased with a number of his other paintings from his estate. Painting is titled on the reverse "Bathers Beautiful". Very good condition but for a 2" abrasion in the center top of painting and corner dings. See last photo for detail. Lazarski was a lifetime member of the Art Students League in New York. I contacted the ASL and they provided me the records of his studies there. He studied with Reginald Marsh in 1948 and 1949 and with other notable instructors, including Professor Kenneth Hayes Miller who was also Isabel Bishop's primary instructor there. Highly accomplished painter. I have a sketchbook by Lazarski in which he makes notations about the technique of his teacher Reginald March and of Rubens. This painting has a Renoir-like feel.
