This auction is for a beautiful, used Reichert Austria polarized light heated stage microscope with original Reichert eyepiece, objective, transformer and more. [ Interesting fact about Reichert Austria : Reichert of Vienna, Austria was very well respected microscope manufacturer who was represented in the US after the war by Hacker Instruments, AO purchased Reichert Austria in mid-1970's after which they were better represented and the addition of the Univar, and then the Polyvar really established their reputation as a first class instrument in the US] Although it is obvious that this microscope was used, it was definitely not abused. Some signs of age and wear/use that are visible on the microscope include small scrapes and paint chips / "wear" as well as some small "stain" marks. All mechanical (moving/sliding/rotating) operations and parts however, are in good condition. Most importantly, this microscope has good quality optics and great image quality. ( See pictures of Benzoic Acid that I took with this microscope - pictures #9-#11 shows Benzoic Acid at room temparature(#9), then the same sample under crossed polars (#10), then see how it start to show rounded edges as it start to melt (#11) and then it quickly melts at ~122ºF (#12) This microscope really is in great overall condition and everything on it works!!! What follows are some specifications for this microscope. Please feel free to contact me if you have any specific questions. Please also see the detailed pictures I included (click on them to supersize). Objective: Reichert Austria SPL 10X 0.25 (160mm tube length) Eyepiece: Reichert Austria PK 6.3X + Eyepiece is focusable Includes a crossline graticule/reticule Eyetube is indexed for the crossline eyepiece - see 2 notches in picture Stage: Circular, electrically heated stage with sample "manipulator" (not seen in pictures) Stage has thermometer on one side. Thermometer is graduated to 230ºC (~445ºF), but I do not know what the maximum temparature is that it can be heated to. Polarizer / Analyzer / Compensator: o Flip-in-and-out polarized o Slide-in-and-out fixed position analyzer o 45º Compensator slot [15mm x 4.5mm] below analyzer - no compensators are supplied with microscope - but t is a "blank slider" in the slot Focus: Course and fine focus with same knob - on both sides of microscope These microscopes have a quirky focus adjustment, but it works well Light Source: 115V, 10W lamp Transformer Power supply (for heating stage): Reichert Austria (original) 115V/220V, 50 Hz transformer included Pictures: The pictures of the Benzoic Acid specimen were taken by using a "CamAdapter" which is a unique, universal camera adapter (see ). This adapter can be fitted to any microscope and makes taking pictures through the microscope really easy. The camera I use is a Sony DSC-W5 digital camera.
