A very rare Christian oak colored glass religious antique.1920's.an elaborate enclosure depicting the Pieta type sculture of the removal of christ from the cross and mary's suffering while holding his body.scene of the last supper below.latch opened door for special prayers and papers to be left.solid oak frame .12x24 inches front.unit is 4 inches thick.hangs on the wall flush.all original parts are present.candle holders are original and swing flat when not in use for prayer or meditation.back was likely thin wood.color is unknown .it is apparent the owner neatly and correctly covered the back section to match the wood color of their wall,or of the unit as a whole,being stained varnished oak in front .an adhesive self sticking vinyl finish or glued on vinyl wall paper or similiar-.cannot be sure.it likely added to the wood tone and as is looks very good.often backs are all black when made or perhaps even white or very light colored.cannot tell.vinyl is adherring tightly and looks like wood ,not detracting at all from the overall appearance.30 years or older type vinyl adhesive paper,one would guess examining it.glass and unit is in perfect condition -without damage.unit is a very strong sturdy design and is approx 8-9 pounds.statue is a type ceramic sculpture.cardboard background has ancient scenes pasted on its entire surface for an artful background.a rare devotional piece.an estate piece ,li.,ny.bidding starts at $149.00,30.00 shipping insurance incl-200lb test large box-bubble wrap,better pink peanuts used,internal supports to take compression off glass.will ship to canada and england only usps air priority -paypal overseas only.part of all sales goes overseas to smiletrain and other uses for child safe havens.
