Up for your consideration is an authentic 1808 Admiral Gardner Shipwreck Coin in a protective display case. This coin was recovered from the actual ship wreck. The Admiral Gardner sank in January 1809 on its journey through the English Channel heading for India. These coins were minted in Birmingham, England for use by the East India Company in the Madras Presidency. The obverse of the coin bears the East India Company ares.
