Description: RARE (perhaps one of a kind) collection of all National Geographic Articles done by Joseph F. Rock concerning China titled 'Remote China'. There are some very rare photographs within some of these articles, including many stunning FULL COLOR photos. This is a hard cover bound book that contains NINE separate articles written by Joseph Rock from 1924 to 1935 which are bound in chronological order and further include the cover of each issue. The cover of the issue containing each article was bound and each is followed by the Joseph Rock article only and no other content. I think this was hand bound by an individual and perhaps one of a kind. I cannot find any others and the title on the spine is in black marker. Nonetheless it was done very handsomely and even the top page edges were painted in red. Again, it's the photography that is stunning. For every picture I provided above, there is at least a dozen more that are similar. Most are black and white, but beginning in 1928 there were many vibrant full color images published, many using the autochrome process.Content includes:1. Life among the Lamas of Choni (pages 569-619, November 1928 issue) 6. Seeking the Mountains of Mystery (pages 131-185, February 1930 issue)7. The glories of the Minya Konka (pages 385-437, October 1930 issue)8. Konka Risumgongba, Holy Mountain of the Outlaws (pages 1-65, July 1931 issue)9. Sungmas, the living oracles of the Tibetan Church (pages 475-478+, October 1935 issue) Condition: Excellent condition. This is a hardcover bound book in very condition. I think it was bound by an individual and is a one of a kind. Nevertheless, the binding is square and firm and exterior very clean. Top page edges have been painted red. Some general light dust and soiling to pages on interior, notably the covers from actual National Geographic magazines. Please inspect the pictures. History: Joseph F. Rock was a famous Austrian-American botanist. The photographs in these articles are relatively famous and have been shown in galleries before....
