This exceptional vase by René Lalique is both rare and highly collectable. The beautiful repeating flower motif a great example of Lalique's naturalistic designs. Translucent black glass shows a deep ruby red under strong light. Slight white patina in recesses. An excellent opportunity to acquire a rare and outstanding design, seldom available on the open market, from the collection of Architectural Arts Alliance of Minneapolis. About Lalique: In no other form did the real genius of René Lalique (1860-1945) emerge, than in his vase designs. His colored vases are some of the most sought after art glass objects by collectors worldwide. During his career he molded (and sometimes pressed) glass, sometimes etched or ornamented in raised relief, into vases and bowls, jewelry, statuary and ornaments, lighting fixtures, and interior designs - notably for the grand salon of the ocean liner S.S. Normandie, and the famous Orient Express. He was one of the few artists who successfully made the transition from the opulent and sinuous Art Nouveau period (1880's - 1900's) to the modern and elegant functionality of Art Deco (1910 - 1940).
