Renaissance Kronos Clock XIV Century Clock Replica Handmade Wooden mechanicalKronosA mechanical adventure from the XIV CenturyIn the late XII century time was measured using the sun, sand and water clocks. In 1335 the Italian Guglielmo Zelandino designed and built the first mechanical clock. He applied to his model and escape wheel (verge escapement) invented by the French architect Villard de Honnecourt. The escape wheel regulates the isochronic movement of the balance that acts as a pendulum.Zelandino's clock was first placed in the tower of the church of St. Gottardo in Milan, Italy. Similar clocks were subsequently built in Modena (1343) and Monza (1347)Technically the mechanical clock was derived from simple machines such as the lever, screw and wheel, which have immense mechanical value on their own, and once combined become of vital importance.KronosA Masterpiece of elegance and simplicityKronos is the most accurate replica of the Italian master's original design. Handcrafted by Colombian craftsmen using traditional woodworking techniques.Fashioned from the finest Colombian native woods (purple heart, brown ebony, and cedar), the exquisitely shaped body has an escape wheel and three gears mounted on brass axles.
