"REPOUSSE" Sterling FLATWARE SET by S.KIRK & SON The Silversmiths of Kirk have along and legendary history. Samuel Kirk completed his apprenticeship in 1815 and chose Baltimore, Maryland as the location for his shop. Baltimore was a place of great affluence, industrial strength and the only city in America with a formal system of Assay for silver. Kirk is most revered for his art of Repousse (meaning raised in relief) a European technique which was no longer much practiced. He prospered due to his imaginative elaborate designs, superior craftsmanship, personal integrity, and customer satisfaction. Today Kirk is world renowned for producing some of the finest silver made by anyone, anytime, anyw in the world! In this auction I am offering a 44 piece set which consists of the following: 8 Knives, 8 7/8" 8 Forks, 7 1/4" 6 Salad Forks, 6 1/2" 4 Teaspoons, 5 7/8" 5 Butter Spreaders, 5 3/8" 8 Seafood Forks, 5 1/4 1 Serving Spoon, 8 3/8" 1 Gravy Ladle, 7" 1 Sm Olive Fork, 4 /2" 1 Master Butter, 7 1/4" 1 Jelly Server, 6 3/4" I purchased this set in an Estate Sale and the used condition is excellent. All of the detail in the relief is crisp and the detail is amazing! T are no monograms or removals. All of the pieces have the older Kirk & Son Hallmark used before 1930. The knife blades are stainless with a modern blade. This is an excellent opportunity to add extra place settings at a great savings. Best of Luck!
