Postcard reprint The Odeon cinema, King Street, Ramsgate 1950s Now demolished by an irresponsible local authority, this was a beautiful example of classic art deco.Later named the Classic cinema, it was replaced by a branch of Iceland,much to Ramsgate's loss. Ramsgate's Odeon opened in 1936 and was designed by Andrew Mather. Mather also jointly designed the Odeon in Leicester Square which opened one year later. Slightly smaller than A5, it is printed on rigid cardOne of the few images of this historic buildingI remember 'Saturday morning pictures' here as a child.
