Old Repro Uncle Sam Mechanical Bank The Book of Knowledge Up for auction is a cast iron mechanical bank of Uncle Sam. Embossed on the bottom: Reproduced From Original in Collection of The Book of Knowledge. I have no idea of its age although listed as vintage reproduction. Weight of Bank alone is 4#10.6 oz. Particulars: The mechanical parts work fine. When you push the button the Right hand drops down and drops a coin in the satchel as it opens and the bearded chin lifts up. The button has to be adjusted periodically but works fine, also the lock cover on the bottom is missing so the coins will fall out. The umbrella is movable. U.S. is on the satchel. Body: T is some flesh colored paint on the Right ear and Hands missing. T is some rust throughout and dirt in the crevices, piece was cleaned enough to just to knock off the loose dirt. Base: is red. Blue banner with Uncle Sam embossed and painted in gold. Eagle is red w/ gold paint featd. Right and has Left side has BANK in gold paint. Please see pictures.
