Restored 1930s Jet Black Sheaffer Balance White Dot Fountain PenDescription: This is a nice example of the iconic Sheaffer Balance fountain pen. Given its "short round ball humped clip" it dates from the early 1930s. This is the short standard girth version. It was fully restored, cleaned and hand polished. White dot is placed above the clip and it is well preserved. Clip has some loss of plating on the ball. Cap band has moderate loss of plating. Nib is 14k bi-tone Sheaffer's Lifetime nib with serial number imprinted at the base. It writes with a fine line. There is no flex to talk about. Pen was tested and fills and writes as expected. There are no personalizations, no cracks or scratches noted. The cap screws in securely despite a small defect in the barrel's threads that I tried to capture in photos. Length capped is 4 3/4".Overall this is a very good example of an early 1930s Sheaffer Balance.
