For sale today is very nicely restored smaller size antique dome top steamer trunk and the pictures do not due it justice. T is a patent date of March 1869 which makes this trunk a 125 plus years old - a true antique. This was a solid trunk when the restoration started and it has solid bottom and the metal has been painted, two original hinges that are good and tight, original center lock - no key, solid oak slats in a golden oak color, the interior paper has been removed, t are two wood skids on the bottom, has the two original steam bent solid oak handles, has a new cloth lid stay and the lid closes well. This great old dome top has the two original mechanical locks that are in the shape of a turtle! Both locks work very well. In 30 years of restoring trunks this is the only time I have seen turtle latches! Very rare! This great old dome top is 28W plus the handles, 14D and 15H.
