For sale today is a restored large size - 36 inches wide low style antique flat top steamer trunk and the restoration turned out very nice!. I did not find any patent dates on the trunk and based on thirty years experience restoring trunks I would date this neat old flat top to early 1900's which makes this great old flat top a 100 plus years old - a true antique. This trunk was in very good condition when the restoration started and it has a solid bottom and the metal has been painted, three original HD hinges that work well and are tight, 40 plus polished pieces of original hardware, original center lock - no key, the lid lifters are built into the latches and both the HD latches work very well, has six solid oak slats in a golden oak color that are thicker than normal, the interior was removed, all the metal/tin is in VGC, two new leather handles were installed with the original hardware, has six original metal skids on the bottom, it has the original lid stay and the lid closes well. This low trunks are great for use as a coffee table. The pictures do not do it justice. This neat old flat top is 36.25W plus the handles, 22D and 13.25 H.
