RETIRED IN 1971 ROYAL DOULTON HAND PAINTED HN 1883 TOP O' THE HILL LADY FIGURINE~ ARTIST SIGNED ~~ WONDERFUL CONDITION ~~ NO RESERVE ~ Welcome to the month of April, and the 2007 spring season. Being offered for your consideration, with NO RESERVE , is this Retired Royal Doulton Hand Painted HN 1883 Top O'The Hill Lady Figurine. Royal Doulton first introduced the Top O' The Hill figurine in 1937; the original design originated on a Christmas card designed by Molly Benatar and produced by Raphael Tuck & Sons.The figurine stands 7" in height and depicts a young woman holding her hat against the wind. The edge of her gown has caught the wind and exposed the lace petticoat underneath. Royal Doulton issued two versions of this figurine, one done in shades of blue and green and a second done in shades of red and blue. This figurine is the green and blue version which was retired in 1971.Completely hand painted the base of the figurine carries the hand written HN number as well as the initials of the artist KR and the green Royal Doulton B 10 backstamp which was used between the years 1928 and 1959. In wonderful condition this figurine is free of any chips, cracks, flea bites, or repairs. The figurine has come from a smoke free estate collection w it was stored appropriately to prevent damage to the hand painted porcelain. ~ PLEASE NOTE read more
