Up for absolute auction, at no reserve, is this fabulous, original c.1950 George Nelson-designed Herman Miller end table with original integral (built-in) lamp. We purchased this recently from the second owner who had owned it for roughly the past 25 years...and the legs and inset-leather top were black when he bought it. We're unsure if these black accents are original to the piece, however. Black painted legs have an aged matte finish...we're unsure of the rubbed finish on the leather top, but it does not have the texture of being painted. The leather still has a vellum texture, so we believe a black dye may have been used. Remainder of finish is original. Original emblem in drawer...top of drawer face has no emblems or evidence of an emblem. The old silver thumbtack, on backside of drawer face, has not been removed by us because we sold a Nelson swag table, two years ago on eBay to a collector in Japan, that had the same thing in a very similar spot...coincidence? We're not sure, but we're leaving it nonetheless. Table is walnut, with what appears to be oak secondary woods on dovetailed drawer. Original drawer divider present. All four legs have original floor caps. Every electrical part of the stunning flouresent lamp is original and functioning properly...from the General Electric ballast, to the push switch on rear leather
