THE AMERICAN JOURNAL, AND GENERAL ADVERTISER. THURSDAY, DECEMBER 30, 1779. This rare Revolutionary War newspaper was printed in Providence, Rhode Island by Bennett Wheeler. "THE AMERICAN JOURNAL" was only in circulation from 1779 to 1781. This is Volume 1. No. 42. The first two pages contain the first half of the Manifesto by the King of France on the War with Great Britain. T is also news from London as well as local Rhode Island news. Page three contains news from Congress and a list of all the French and Spanish War ships that have arrived in New England. The last page contains mostly advertisements. The two leaves of this 4 page newspaper are almost detached, t is some very minor scattered foxing and a small hole in the centerfold. Overall this rare 230 year old newspaper is in good condition!
