Up for auction is a wooden canteen as were carried by our soldiers during the Revolutionary War. The canteen measures 8 inches long by 7 inches wide. This one still retains it's stopper. Someone years ago mounted this to a stand (reversable) and protected it's finish with a coating of tung oil. It makes for a lovely display. The wire handle is long gone. An exact example is shown on page 64, item 27 in George Neumann's book, "Collectors Illustrated Encyclopedia of the American Revolution. Good luck!
