Ricardo Corona Mata Ortiz Cream Pictoral Pottery Vase This is a beautiful, very fine Mata Ortiz pottery vase signed by the artist Ricardo Corona. It has Mimbreno style graphics that run all around the pottery, including the bottom. This is a handmade, traditional pottery vase with thin walls The colors of this pottery are red and black cream colored clay. Approximate Size: 7 in tall by 6 in across, with a 3.5 inch opening Signature: Ricardo Corona on the bottom of the pottery Ricardo is the son of Ana Trillo. Mata Ortiz pottery is one of the finest ceramics in the world. Inspired by the Paquime (Apache Native Americans) the potters of Mata Ortiz create contemporary works of art, often incorporating Mimbres designs shared by the Native American cultures. These pots are called ollas, or coiled pots. They are hand painted using natures own canvas and materials, and never kiln fired (open pit firing is the technique used). They are created entirely by hand so t are slight variances in size or symmetry. These pieces are for ornamental use only, they are not intended to be used as water, food, or flower containers. {sku 1486} We offer combined shipping (some items cannot be combined due to size or weight) for most purchases.
