Up for auction is a one of a kind hand-signed "thank you" letter on White House stationary dated March 2, 1971,from President Richard Nixon to Paul Keyes and its accompanying transmittal envelope post-marked March 4, 1971. It is interesting to note that this letter was written just a few months prior to President Nixon's announcement of his upcoming historical visit to China, which announcement was made in July, 1971. This letter represents an expression of gratitude from President Nixon to Paul Keyes for a birthday gift and is signed in black ink with the now famous circled initials "RN". This signature was reserved by President Nixon for people close to him. We unconditionally guarantee that this signature is original and authentic and is on official White House stationary. The letter from President Nixon on original White House stationary measures 8 7/8" in length x 6 3/4" in width. The letter is embossed with the Presidential seal and has a letterhead which reads in raised lettering in black ink: "THE WHITE HOUSE" "WASHINGTON". The envelope measures 7 1/4" in length x 4 3/4" in width. The envelope bears a return address in blue ink with raised lettering: "THE WHITE HOUSE" .
