Offered at absolute auction with out reserve is an ORIGINAL artwork by Rick Griffin which is much like Griffin's approved artwork design for the 25th Anniversary of the Grateful Dead in 1990. The ceramic coffee mug shown in the exhibit photo (and included with the framed artwork in this auction lot) shows the inclusion of a blue circle behind the robed skeleton guitar player, with 25 stars around the circle and the addition of the letters, "GD" and the Roman numeral: XXV (25). The artwork is hand inked and painted on transparent Mylar (a clear plastic sheet). The artwork image size Image size: 8 in. X 13 in. (20 cm. X 33 cm.). The overall framed size is 14 in. X 20 in. The artwork is in MINT condition and the frame is in excellent condition. I have located the Certificate of Authenticy signed by Ida Griffin, Rick Griffin's widow and Administrator of his estate, and will send it along with the artwork (see late image below). When I purchased this artwork from a collector a years ago, I removed the artwork from the frame, and verified that it is indeed hand inked and hand painted artwork. I also verified from Grant and Ed at San Francisco Rock Art Collectibles in North Beach, San Francisco that over ten years ago this artwork was consigned to them by Ida Griffin not long after Rick died in 1991.
