This is a superb working model of a Rider Ericsson hot air water pumping engine. The full sized version of these were used to pump water up to storage tanks in country manor houses (among other things) in Victorian times, one of the servants would have tended a small coal fire to run it. This model runs on gas and a suitable supply could be fitted from a camping gas supply. To see this engine working See You tube “/watch?v=YKXThG0U8FI" For those unfamiliar with hot air engines they do not require a boiler or steam and work by heating and expanding air. This engine is beautifully built of aluminium, steel and brass and was built by a true enthusiast Flywheel appx. 6.5 inches dia cylinder appx. 2 inch bore. Engine height at max displacement appx. 17.5 inches This unique hand built hot air engine is one of 11 individually unique deceased estate engines I will be listing over the next few weeks.
