Lovely English red and white transferware souvenir plate showing the cherry blossoms and Washington Monument at Washington, D.C. It is signed on the back: "Ridgways Shelton, England, Made in Staffordshire England for G.C. Murphy Co., Established 1792". This signature is within a crown and circle trademark. The G.C. Murphy stores were well-know in the early 1900s and were taken over by Ames in 1985. I think this plate is probably from the 1930s or 1940s. No cracks, chips, spiders or staining; it does show expected minor age- crazing to the glaze. Measures 9 3/4" in diameter. Starting with a low opening bid and no reserve after that. Happy bidding!
