Riedinger and Caire 2 Gallon Jug with Bright Bluebird on a Branch

Coming to you from Doc's Crocks, America's Source for Antique Stoneware , is this wonderful 2 Gallon Jug made and stamped by "Riedinger & Caire, Poughkeepsie, N.Y."

This is the mark of Philip Riedinger and Adam Caire who partnered in stoneware from 1857 to 1878. (see William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware , p. 65).

This beauty features the potter's stamp and a Large Bluebird on a Branch in Bright Cobalt Blue. The bird stands proudly on the large branch like George Washington poised on his boat as he crossed the Delaware! The cobalt is very bright and shiny too. Measures 14" tall

Excellent Condition . Two l/2" chips and some minor 1/8" chips on the spout, a minor 1/4" chip at the base, and a few small spots of staining. A kiln touch on the left side in the making. That's it! No hairlines, cracks, or repairs. Please view the full spread of pictures as part of the description.
