Doddridge, D.D. published by Leary & Getz no copy date but ca 1840s to 1850s. Has a frontis portrait of Doddridge. The best known work of the nonconformist divine Philip Doddridge (1702-1751). 'The religious genius of Doddridge is seen at its best in the powerful addresses which make up his volume On the Rise and Progress of Religion in the Soul, 1745. This work was planned and prompted by Isaac Watts. This was first published about 1745 during the early stages of America's religious revival and it was reprinted several times. This has brown covers with gold lettered spine. Yellow end pages has a previous owner's name otherwise all interior pages clean and tight. Spine worn and chipped, edge wear, hinges only very slightly loose, a good reaging copy. 326 pages plus 24 pages of ads.
