This is a beautiful 6x9 stereoview glass negative of a nude female. I can not say fo certain, but this plate probably dates from around the turn of the century. The photographic process used to create it came into wide use around 1880 and was used extensively until the 1920's. Not so much a stereoview (although you can certainly make one (or one hundred) from it) as much as a piece of photographic history. The negative is in good shape, with minor damage to the emulsion at the edges (see scan). The image itself is clean, with slightly more detail in the shadows than shows in the scan. A couple of notes:-You _can not_ simply view this with a regular stereoscope (It won't fit anyway). You would have to make a contact print on photographic paper (which is what this negative was for) or scan the image and print it on a high grade photopaper. The qualtiy of such an image could be quite high... but would be, of course, directly related to the quality of the scanner and printer used. The positive image included in this auction was inverted in Photoshop. -Some of the artifacts in the scan are from dust ON the image, others are IN the image. Please be sure that you know _HOW_ to clean the plate if you chose to do so. The emulsion on some types of glass negatives can wash off if run under/soaked in water. Happy bidding...
