A total of 711 of these handmade boxes were made to celebrate the lives of the RMS TITANIC survivors. This box is No. 42 and was made for the maid of First Class passenger H.J. Allison. This box comes with the original cobalt blue presentation box lined with cobalt satin and with the original certificate of origin from White Star Lines representative. Colbalt blue enamel over copper,hand-brush painted depiction of the maiden voyage of the Titanic on April 12, 1912, The box is a little over 1" in height and 2.5" in width. The underside of the lid has the writing, "The RMS TITANIC on May 31st, 1911 Harland & Wolf launched the largest ship in the world. Less than a year later on April 14th 1912 she struck an iceberg and the cruel waters of the North Atlantic took the lives of 1,503 souls." On the underside of the box is the writing in gold leaf TITANIC Mementos 42/711 This box was made in Staffordshire, England. Buyer pays shipping and insurance is included in the shipping amount.
