His work is based on plein air field studies and studio work. After 25 years living and showing his work in San Diego, California, he now resides with his wife in Tucson, Arizona. He also enjoys life drawing and is recognized in local sketch groups for his ability to depict the human form, as well as his candid linear ink drawings of the participating artists. Robert attended the Chouinard Art Institute in Los Angeles, California, and the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena. His on-going education includes training from Ray Vinella, John Asaro, Wolf Kahn, Wayne Thiebaud, Matt Smith, Jove Wang, Phil Starke and Ray Roberts. Robert has received numerous awards over the years, including a $2000 award at the Lana International Art Competition juried by Wayne Thiebaud in San Francisco, California. Two paintings of the Grand Canyon which are in the permanent collection of the Grand Canyon Association are located in the Kolb Studio on the South Rim. In addition read more
