Robert Knight Morgan [1918 2004] was a Colonel and a Command Pilot of the United States Air Force who served as the pilot of the Memphis Belle. The Memphis Belle was a B-17 heavy bomber assigned to the Eight Air Force in the European theatre of war during World War II. Then Captain Morgan served as her pilot and completed 25 combat mission, all of which were daylight raids. The Memphis Belle and her crew after completing their required 25 combat mission were returned to the United States were they went on a publicity campaign to sell war bonds. Captain Robert Morgan was promoted to Major and returned to combat while assigned as the commanding officer of the 869th Bomb Squadron in the Pacific and completed a second combat tour. In 2001, he published his autobiography, The Man Who Flew the Memphis Belle. Listed for auction is the autograph of Robert Knight Morgan signed on a great image of the Memphis Belle and her crew. The photograph is signed ''Robert Morgan Pilot'' and he added a check mark above his image in the photograph in black felt pen. The photograph is a b/w with a gloss finish which measures 10.00 x 8.00 inches and is in fine condition.
