Robert Wade VERY OLD Straight Razor You are bidding on a very rare old R.WADE straight razor. I found this blade at a flea market. t are a few things that should be noted, so read CAREFULLY. I'm not a specialist in very old razors, so if you have ANY questions please don't hesitate to ask. After I acquired this blade, i didn't do anything to it in terms of cleaning. it is in the same condition as when I acquired it. From what I understand, R.WADE was Robert Wade, a well known knifemaker in Sheffield, England. Robert Wade was producing straight razors and knives between 1810 and 1818. Then, he partnered and began producing razors under the well known Wade & Butcher brand. This stamp then clearly dates this razor between 1810 and 1818. From what I understand, razors during this time period did not have hollow grinds. Because of this, I'm almost CERTAIN that this blade was probably re-ground, around the turn of the century. It does, however, look to be a very professional job -- I seriously thing this razor could be a shaving razor if you honed it. I took lots of pictures. Please look at them closely and carefully. The blade and tang have a few black pitting marks. The scales are a bit rough, but they are intact. T does look to be a small hairline surface crack near the pivot pin on one side, but, it does not seem to affect the integrity read more
