Roberto Matta, Chile, 1911-2002. Wash and pen drawing on his usual 50% Fabriano paper. This is a hand made card by Matta. It measures 6.75" x 11.5" or 17cm x 29cm. Matta had a celebrated career. He was one of our greatest artists. He worked with Dali, Breton and Duchamp. He was also a very generous man. He would take time to send greetings to people. How can I be so sure that this drawing is authentic? Well, I have been collecting autographs for 39 years. I have many examples of Matta's handwriting, including a handwritten letter. The greeting on this card matches perfectly with my other known examples.Matta has written on the back, "los valores mercants del arte contemporaneo. M" "The values merchants of contemporary art." Based on the drawing a human/machine like figure that is spitting out product, I believe Matta is making a statement on commercialism in modern art or a statement about critics of modern art. This work bears an inscription to "Toyo (Guerido?) And is signed with an alternate signature twice as well as his best known signature after his written statement. Also bears the word Chile and a drawing of a face. This auction starts at $1. T is a reserve. Please don't ask me what it is. I accept PayPal and personal check drawn on U.S. funds. Personal checks must clear. In the U.S. shipping is $5.00 by U.S. Postal Service Priority Mail. Internationally it will be shipped by U.S. Postal Service International Express Mail Flat Rate. This will be calculated at the end of the auction and price depends upon w it will be shipped. I also take pride in packing each item extremely well. I am very experienced in autographs. I have been collecting and trading for 39 years. My customers are my friends.
