Robinson Crusoe Daniel Defoe 1823 Leather Fine Binding Gold Stamp Illustrated The Life and Surprising Adventures of Robinson Crusoe of York Mariner Defoe, Daniel Richards, London publishers 1823 Hardback - full leather binding in an attractive mahogany brown Fine decorative binding with raised bands and gold and blind stamping 2 volumes bound as one - 240 and 220 pages. Includes a number of etched illustration, so on tipped sheets, some appear to date to 1781. Condition: Overall condition is VG+ (recall that this is a 190 year old book). Binding is tight, secure. Corners square, slight bend but little wear the leather. Spine has excellent patina, not dried or cracked. Cover color is not faded, gilt is bright. Hinges fine. The book interior is in VG+ condition. It is complete, clean, with no soiling and minimal tanning (for 190 years). No early/original owner’s name, no other mark-up of any sort. No mildew or foxing No DJ (as issued). The Net-Net: a very attractive fine binding suitable for the finest library.
