It measures approximately 1-1/2" wide by 2-7/8" tall in size. It has been previously used, rated in excellent condition and exhibits normal wear from daily use. The hinge is as tight as the day it was made. It dates back to around the 1880 to 1900 era. The embossed artwork is fancy and with a lot of detail. Breweries presented match safes as a gift to their most prominent customers, distributors and saloon owners that sold their beers and ales. These match safes were provided only to preferential clients and therefore were limited in availability primarily based on the cost to manufacture them.
