The dish sits flat and even on a table top. The cover sits evenly into the dish's rim.The silver plate shined up nicely, but the spots, scrapes, scratches and nicks remain. * * * * * Ownership: I am auctioning this Rock Island Lines memorabilia silver serving dish for my mother (of the great-grandmotherly generation) who obtained it many years ago in the Rock Island, Illinois, area as memorabilia of the historic Rock Island Lines Railroad. I lightly cleaned this serving dish and lid with good quality silver polish for this auction listing. I did not polish it too vigorously or roughly for fear of over-polishing the silver plate. See the pictures for the condition and look of the dish, which clearly show that this item was once put to use on the railroad.
